IDTM participated in the workshop “Peaceful Communication, Human Rights and FGM” in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 25 to 31 October 2021, within Make ART, Not FGM. The programme connected human rights education with communication approaches for addressing female genital mutilation. Participants examined how to raise awareness among communities affected by the practice without alienating those communities.
The documented work included an electronic brochure linking communication, human rights and FGM prevention. The planned approach combined culturally sensitive language with a clear account of the seriousness of the issue. The source describes online distribution through partner websites and local networks as an intended dissemination route; completion of every distribution step is not documented.
